What is Data?

Data is the raw facts, details about just anything around us. It is raw, unprocessed and hence not ready for insights. This is the reason it is said about data that it is meaningless.

Data is processed and enriched to give it a form that can be used for insights. This form of data is known as information.

Data is what we write on notebooks, diaries, office registers, letter pads as well as CDs, Pen drives, word documents and so on. However, when we hear the term data we only think about data stored on electronic devices. This data is actually “digital data”. Digital data is most valuable asset of 21st century. It is so much valuable that world over, people believe that ” Data is the 21 century Oil”.
